Customer Restricted Products
The Web Ninja platform allows you to restrict the visibility of products so that only certain customer types can see and purchase them.
Restricting Products to Specific Customer Types
This is managed through a Customer View Restriction field set on a product and a Product View Restriction field set on the products.
How It Works
The rule is straightforward:
- If a product's Customer View Restriction field is blank, the product is visible to all customers.
- If a product has a restriction value set, for example,
ninjathen only customers who have that same value in their own Product View Restriction field will be able to see and purchase that product.
Both the product and customer fields support multiple comma-separated values, allowing for flexible combinations. For example: ninja,trade,b2bonly.
Step 1: Restrict a Product
- Navigate to your product list in the admin area and open the product you'd like to restrict.
- Locate the Customer View Restriction field.
- Enter the restriction value(s) that apply to this product. For example,
ninjaorninja,b2bonly. - Save your changes.
Step 2: Tag a Customer
- Navigate to your customer list in the admin area and open the customer you'd like to configure.
- Locate the Product View Restriction field.
- Enter the value(s) representing the product types this customer is permitted to see. For example,
ninja,b2bonly. - Save your changes.
Example
A customer with b2bonly in their Product View Restriction field will be able to see products tagged with blank tag or b2bonly, but will not see any products tagged with ninja. Any products with a blank restriction field will remain visible to all customers regardless of their settings.
