ANZ E-Gate - PCI Changes: 2025

ANZ E-Gate has implemented changes to enhance the security of their Access Codes in response to heightened PCI compliance requirements. These codes must now be generated annually.  The following guide will help you stay on top of these changes.

Guide to Generating a New VPC Access Code for ANZ E-Gate Payment Gateway

Creating a new VPC access code for the ANZ E-Gate payment gateway is a straightforward process. This guide will walk you through the steps to ensure you generate a 3 Party code successfully, ensuring a smooth transition with no disruption to your customers' payment experience.

You can find more details about this process in ANZ's own documentation here:

Step 1: Log into Your ANZ E-Gate Account

Step 2: Generate the VPC Access Code (following the steps in ANZ's guide above)

You want to generate a 3-Party Access Code 1 - this should create a 32 character string of random text as the access code.

Step 3: Implement the New Code on Your Site

  1. Once the new VPC access code is generated, make sure to save it securely. You may need to copy it to a secure document or password manager.
  2. Implement the new code in your payment gateway settings on your site:
    1. Navigate to your site's CMS Admin (yourdomain/admin) and login (this is where you generally manage your customers, orders and products on your site on a daily/weekly basis)
    2. click on the store drop-down at the top-right, and select "Settings" in the dropdown menu:

In the left-hand menu scroll down to Payment Methods:

    3. Select Anz eGate and copy your existing access code first (just in case you need to quickly revert your changes)
    4. Enter your new access code, and save your changes.

Step 4: Verify the Code

  1. Conduct a test transaction to ensure the new VPC access code is functioning correctly. You can do this by going through the checkout process yourself, select the credit card option on your checkout page and continue with the order as if you're actually going to pay for it.
(you don't need to actually pay).
  2. If the changes work - you'll land on ANZ's E-Gate MIGS site:

Otherwise if it doesn't work, you'll receive some kind of error, (usually error 400 or similar)
  3. If any issues arise, revisit the settings to confirm the code was entered correctly. If so - please restore your original access code that you copied above so there's little interruption to your customers - and contact WN support.
Depending on the outcome - we may direct you to contact ANZ E-Gate support for further assistance - but we'll know what to check first and what to direct you to ask ANZ.

By following these steps you should have minimal to no issues with staying up to date with ANZ's latest updates with little to no interruptions to your customer's transactions.

IMPORTANT: ANZ eGate requires the annual generation of a new security code to maintain security and PCI compliance with industry standards. You can generate this code via the ANZ eGate portal following the above steps or by reaching out to their support team for assistance.
